15th February 2008- Under 20 Jumps International

From the Scottish Athletics website:-

"Scottish under-20 athletes representing Great Britain at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre in the Jumps International against Holland on Wednesday evening (13th February) out staged their senior counterparts...

Erin Leggate, also completely unphased by her first GB call-up, equaled her personal best of 1.75m on her second attempt in the high jump and then moved her lifetime mark into completely new territory with a third round clearance over 1.80m to go top of the UK Power of 10 U20 rankings and 5th overall. This performance moves Leggate to third on the Scottish all time under-20 indoor age group rankings. Such was the measure of her performance on the night that although retrospectively buzzing from her performance she remained focused at the time on three genuine and close attempts at 1.83m."

So more success for the athlete who started her athletics career with Whitemoss. How someone can jump 6 feet into the air without the aid of a trampoline is beyond me.  I think the rest of the article speaks for itself. Great stuff.

9th February 2008- Indoor League Match 3

The match totals are now available and can be accessed by clicking here. From a brief glance, the under 13 boys, under 20 men, under 11 girls, under 13 girls and under 20 women seem to have a fighting chance of being in the finals on 16th March. Obviously the afternoon scores have to be considered as well with the top 5 teams overall progressing. To view this file, you are best to use Microsoft Excel viewer. Download it from the links page of this website.

Meanwhile, Allan Scott guaranteed himself a place at the World Indoor Chamionships next month by winning the 60m hurdles in Sheffield. Rising star, Erin Leggate competed in the high jump, finishing 10th with 1.71m in a field including Olympians Jessica Ennis and Kelly Sotherton. Elite company indeed.

7th February 2008- Erin Leggate

This is something I cannot let pass without a mention. Congratulations is probably too underwhelming a word for it. So hats off to former Whitemoss athlete Erin Leggate who has earned her first ever British vest. She has been selected to compete in a competition in London on Wednesday 13th February. Just last weekend, Erin represented Scotland at a Celtic nations international, winning the high jump with 1.73m. Before hitting the big smoke, she continues to clock up the road miles this Saturday by travelling to Sheffield for the World Indoor trials.

Erin was a Whitemoss member until relatively recently when she joined up with City of Glasgow. She has began to make marked progress in high jump. For Whitemoss to have one British international, Allan Scott, is good, to have two is superb. I'm sure everyone joins me in wishing Miss Leggate well. See what can be achieved with a little hard work?

Congratulations to Julie Whyteside who competed in this prestigious invitation only event at the weekend. Representing the Scottish West District team, Julie finished 85th with some notable names up ahead. Not content with that, she ran the 3000m indoors the following day.
